S SQUARE AND 2 S- Future Growth. We need make UoPeople as platform for this and help educating/create awareness in the students esp in these 2 areas.

During 1980s nobody anticipated the growth of IT that what we are experiencing today. However thanks to IT, it has kindled ideas, innovation and thought leadership. It has strengthen predictability theory with minute variations and it has provided tools for alternative decision making and simulated decision making.

Thanks to GLOBAL ECONOMIC ADVANCEMENT, it has delivered a great product for our consumption which is “GLOBAL WARMING”. I feel following trends would take place in next 10-15 years. FUTURE IS ON “S SQUARE” and “2 S”….
    2. SUN+SEA=2S is life for us.

Future is on Sun and Sea ! Sea Water and sun would bring in massive changes in human lifestyle
 Visionaries are hoping major socially meaningful innovations would take place around sea water (sea water for cultivation or sea water for next gen food grains development (e.g. salacona-alternative to wheat/rice etc, greenhouse technology, future fresh water source)
Sea water and Sun are going to be next gen energy generator source (e.g. tides would become alternative energy generators, sea water is going to be placeholder for solar capacitors)
Around the world, many agricultural areas are becoming less productive as salt levels in water supplies increase. Only 1% of the Earth’s water is freshwater. Hence innovations around direct usage of seawater would become prime targets
Economically and Ecologically, Sea water Transport- The way forward for Cargo Transportation
 Global Warming demands Sea Transportation-
“Sea Port Going Green”- New Port Leadership Management Mantra

End of the day, IT is becoming integral part of core industry. No more sitting isolated in AC rooms and collecting requirements would work in future if these themes pick up. we need to be next to facrory/field. As IT would subside into core industry, people need to be reskilled a lot. we need to have live factory exp for the survival and growth. We need to develop practices in S SQUARE & 2 S areas.

From IT perspective, This would alter complete way of SOFWARE PROJECT LIFECYCLE, PROJECT ESTIMATION, METRICS etc for that matter, entire SOFTWARE ENGINEERING METHODOLOGY itself. Still as an industry, our estimation techniques are not yet matured. still we are dependent on WBS. now these 2 new area gurus would overtake estimation or software methodologies as they would be dominating on the core front. That point of time IT gurus would become obsolete if we don’t wake up and think differently from tradational production and engineering perspective. IT and Machines would not have any key differences. they would be just tools of OLD ENGINEERING GURUS in FUTURE!

Shall we gear up! shall we focus on this and catch this S SQUARE & 2 S? Shall we part of these roots !!
